But he’s not the one spinning. Over the past four years the photographer known as Q, has been all over the west coast’s hottest clubs and events photographing some of the world’s top DJ’s.
In his first solo exhibition, Q gives us a glamorous sneak peek behind the VIP curtain, while catching that special moment that inspires him.
It’s all about the moment and it’s all about being genuine. Through tens of thousands of photographs, Quana Parkers technical skill whispers effortlessly in these moments. His sense of capturing ease and chaos adds contemporary flair to his work. It goes to show that this style of photography goes far beyond journalism, and is certainly making more than a dent in today’s art world.
Amalgamating concept with technique, Quana’s photographs are both aesthetically pleasing and technically charged. The colours scream, the lights pop and the faces are filled with life. Utilizing pro digital tools such as state of the art DSLRs and flashes, he steals the spaces with his presence and captures genuine smiles. These are not just snapshots of the weekend, the works reveal the glossy side of the night life and that you don’t need to be beautiful to stand out (although that helps), you just need to be real.
